Our Mountain Cabin

Built in the 1930s by Nature Friends members and volunteers, our historic mountain cabin has been bringing people together for nearly a century. Tucked among the pines of the San Jacinto Mountains, it offers a peaceful Southern California mountain retreat where members can step away from city life and enjoy a slower pace.

Over the years, the cabin has hosted hiking weekends, shared meals, outdoor adventures, volunteer projects, celebrations, and plenty of quiet mornings with coffee. Today, members still come for rustic weekend getaways, group stays, mountain hikes, and time spent reconnecting with nature and one another.

Simple, comfortable, and full of character, the cabin offers an authentic mountain experience close to Los Angeles, with fresh air, forest views, community, and almost a century of shared memories. It’s a wonderful experience for our members and their guests to share.

Built by Hand

The cabin was built in the 1930s by Nature Friends members and volunteers. Materials and handmade pieces were hauled up the hill, then carefully assembled by hand to create a mountain retreat the club could call its own.

Ever since, caring for the cabin has been a shared labor of love. Generations of members have repaired, maintained, improved, and protected it, preserving both the building and the spirit in which it was created.

Nearly a century later, the cabin still stands as a testament to volunteer effort, community, and the belief that special places are built and sustained together.
